    NOTICE

    WRITING A NOTICE

    Notice is a written or printed information or news announcement. Notices are either displayed at prominent places or published in newspapers/ magazines. It is meant only for a select group. Since a notice contains a formal announcement or information, its tone and style is formal and factual.Its language should be simple and formal.

    Notice is always brief and to the point.

    A NOTICE SHOULD BE IN A BOX. The entire notice must be on one page.

    Begin with the name of the school at top centre followed by short address. Leave a line.

    Date in expanded form on left. Leave a line.

    Write the word NOTICE at the centre in block letters and underline it. Leave a line.

    Subject at the centre (in short). Leave a line.

    The word subject should not be written.

    Body in one paragraph (50 words). Who are your target readers, what is happening, when and where and what do you want your target readers to do—all these must be mentioned. Leave a line.

    Date, time and venue of a meeting/ event should be set in a table.

    Use Third Person.

    Use Passive Voice as far as possible.

    Full legible signature on left hand side.

    Next line- name in block letters but in brackets

    Next line – designation
